PDF (Adobe Reader): Ensure tagged PDFs (Pro version)

Open the 'Prepare for accessibility' tool
Select 'Automatically tag PDF'
Confirm automatic tagging
Confirm re-tagging if the document is already tagged
View and edit the accessibility tags
Access the tags menu for more options

Instructions

  1. Open PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro. Go to All tools > Prepare for accessibility >. NB: sometimes you will need to select View more to find this.
  2. Select Automatically tag PDF.
  3. Select Enable to create more accurate tags.
  4. If document is already tagged you can re-tag the document, by selecting Confirm.
  5. Acrobat adds structure (headings, paragraphs, lists).
  6. You can select more (…) to adjust the tags.
