Built in MacOS: How to turn on Dictation (Speech to Text)

Navigate to System Settings from the Apple menu
Select Accessibility from the left-hand menu
Toggle Dictation on
Adjust Dictation shortcut

Instructions

  1. Navigate to System Settings through the Apple menu.
  2. Navigate to Keyboard and select Dictation.
  3. Turn Dictation on.
  4. Press Fn (Function) key twice to start dictating.

Tip: Punctuation commands like “full stop” or “new line” help structure speech. Speak clearly; text appears where your cursor is.
